Safe Haven Recovery Housing

Our Directors

Stephanie O’Shea is the Director of our Women’s housing. Stephanie was born and raised in the York County area. Through her personal recovery experience, she will help to support and empower clients along their journey. Stephanie has achieved her sobriety after 15 years of substance abuse through the use of a 12 step program and the love and encouragement of the local community. She understands what it is like to be a newcomer. Her priority at Safe Haven is to provide loving support and motivation for each woman so that she can reach her individual goals during her recovery process. Transitioning into independence when newly sober can be intimidating, and we at Safe Haven can offer a firm solution through simple actions.

Joey Grdich is our director of operations and has worked for Safe Haven since October of 2014. Joey G is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, to York in 2010. After battling his own addiction and alcoholism for 15 years, he went to recovery house on November 9, 2009, and has been clean and sober ever since. Having had his own experiences with addiction, homelessness, Jails, and eventually starting over in a recovery house in York, Joey knows both sides of recovery. He is heavily involved in a 12-step program. Because he was given a second chance at life and recovery, his passion runs deep for helping the alcoholic and addict in their recovery journey. He is very proud of his Pittsburgh roots and sports teams.

ABOUT YORK, PA

The city has been called an “architectural museum” because the downtown features numerous well-preserved historic structures, such as the 1751 General Horatio Gates House, the 1766 York Meetinghouse, the 1863 Billmeyer House, the 1888 York Central Market, and others. York styles itself the fourth Capital of the United States after Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Lancaster. York has many exciting spots just a walk away from the central market, artsy coffee spots, a retro arcade, library, gym & fitness centers. Public transportation is conveniently located right out front of all our Safe Haven Homes for across-town activities.
